Tunisian Writers Union members resign

Poetry News Agency | Tunisia (http://www.alapn.com/ar/news.php?cat=5&id=33130)

Every now and then, a member of the Tunisian Writers Union submits his/her resignation from the union, protesting how unhelpful they feel they are at the union, which they describe as “ruins”.
Poet Hafez Mahfouz, who resigned from the union lately, said that he resigned as he felt useless like many members at the union. He described the union as a broken contraption.
He added that the union is at its worst situations, pointing out that Tunisian intellectuals and litterateurs are being intentionally excluded.
“I do not think anything would ever change,” Mahfouz said. “This rusty contraption will continue to operate with the same functionality.”
